Beer Cask Series: Smoky Rye Red Ale Cask
For the past twelve months we have been working on a barrel aged beer program for pilot batch brewing. Our intentions were to make good beer, that also complimented our style of whisky.
This Smoky Rye Red Ale cask finished whisky is the fourth and final from the series.
Matured in a American oak ex-bourbon cask for three and a half years before finishing in a 20L ex-Pedro Ximénez sherry cask that has been barrel-aging a Smoky Rye Red Ale, brewed by our own head distiller, Ben James.

Marmalade and baked pastries, red berries, vanilla, cinnamon and wafts of sweet malty smoke.
The rich marmalade presents alongside a malt backbone. Baked cereals and brandy snaps with custard, fill the mid palate with savoury charred honey notes.
The sweet and savoury elements subside to leave honeycomb and pantry spices to linger.
Please note, we have decided to not filter or flock this whisky to ensure it’s richness. As such, the whisky can appear cloudy or form into sediment at the bottom of the bottle. It’s perfectly safe, and nothing to worry about.
